5 Things to Consider Before You Write Your Memoir

How about writing it as a novel?

Creative nonfiction is a factual narrative presented as a story to entertain the reader.

Five things to keep in mind

1. Core Concept. The underlying message.

2. Format. A collection of personal reflections or a romance, thriller, or comedy novel. It’s your life — how has it worked out?

3. Accuracy. The material must be verifiable and accurate if you’re writing someone else’s story.

4. Benefit. How your book will influence readers.

5. Beginning and end. Choose one underlying theme, not your entire life, unless you’re already famous.

Follow the guidelines of writing a fictional novel as you tell your tue story. It will make your finished book more compelling and enjoyable to readers.
